1/48 Plastic Series #65 Gloster Meteor F.1 - V-1(Fieseler Fi103) Kit from Tamiya. Recommended for ages 10 and up.

The idea of jet-powered fighters and weaponry was being considered during the late 1940's. The Gloster Meteor was developed by the Gloster Aircraft Company upon the request of the British Air Ministry. Capable of a top speed of 668km/h the Meteor laid the foundation for jet powered aircraft.

Coincidentally, the Germans simultaneously developed what is considered to be the pre-cursor to modern day missiles. Known as the V-1 Fieseler Fi103, it was a small rocket that, with the use of a steering gyro, pushed a huge bomb over a target and then fell to the ground. On August 4th of 1944, while flying his Meteor on patrol, Flying Officer Dean spotted and gave chase to a V-1. After his guns jammed, he recorded the first victory over a V-1 by using the tip of his wing to knock the weapon off course, where it crashed in an unpopulated area.
