The failure of the F-111B to meet the requirements set forth by the Navy for their new basic fighter resulted in heated competition for a suitable carrier based plane. Variable-sweep wings were not a part of the new specifications, but Grumman proposed this still-new feature on their entry because of their experience with them. The capable production version could cut its width in half thanks to the inclusion of the variable-sweep wings. FEATURES: Plastic pieces attached to sprues and molded in gray. The surface of the plane is decorated with fully engraved panel lines and rivet detail. Highly detailed cockpit interior includes a seat, controls, and gauges. As an added bonus a life-like pilot is included. Adjustable sweep wings are functional and give this model the realism that intrigues modelers young and old alike.
